A Story from the Boat: The “Queen” of Santa Giustina

I will never forget one August afternoon on Lake Santa Giustina. We were beneath a sheer rock face. The surface of the lake was as smooth as glass, and we were fishing vertically for perch. Suddenly, there was a sharp strike.

It was a magnificent silver lake-dwelling trout. The fish fought with incredible strength beneath the boat before finally slipping into the landing net.

Without the freedom of movement that only a boat can provide, that fish would have remained a ghost in the depths.
