The Associazione Pescatori Dilettanti del Vanoi has around 150 members and rents exclusive fishing rights from the Canal San Bovo municipal authorities for all local waters. It also holds a licence from the Autonomous Province of Trento for Lake Calaita and has an agreement with the Associazione Pescatori Dilettanti Primiero to regulate both the planting of fish and fishing for its members.

Fishing is regulated according to the Fishing Charter of the Autonomous Province of Trento and with a view to safeguarding fish and the environment.

Every year from 60,000 to 80,000 young trout measuring 6-9 cm, mostly from the nearby hatchery in Primiero, are planted in local rivers. As for Lake Calaita, 5 batches of around 100 kg each of trout ready to be fished coming from fish farms in Trentino are introduced each year between 1 June and 31 August.

Fishing areas are divided into Normal, Special and No Kill zones.

The Special Zone (XM) is along the Torrente Vanoi from the confluence with the Rio Viosa to its confluence with Val de Scala, and is limited to fly-fishing only and the retaining of maximum 4 Salmonidae of a minimum length of 25 cm.

The No Kill (NK) area is located along the Torrente Valsorda from the confluence with the Torrente Vanoi as far as the weir upstream from Caoria and is a catch and release area permitting only fly-fishing with the use of barbless hooks.

During 2011, the Autonomous Province of Trento introduced around 5000 specimens of Arctic char into the little Reganel mountain lake.
